Digital marketing can be described as the practice of marketing products and services through digital distribution channels. In a broader sense, digital marketing strategies can be divided into two forms namely,
- “Pull” digital marketing strategy/technology: A “pull” strategy involves the user having to seek for the prevalent information via web search. E.g. Websites, blogs, streaming audio and video.
- “Push” marketing strategy/technology: A “push” strategy involves the marketer sending the messages or information to the user (thus, pushing the information/product/service). E.g. Email marketing, SMS, RSS etc.
In comparison to their conventional marketing counterparts, digital marketing strategies have proved to be more effective in disseminating information and driving business forward.
It has certain specific advantages over its traditional counterparts.
- Firstly, unlike popular conception, digital marketing isn’t mere Internet marketing. Internet marketing is a sub-domain (a major one, though!) of digital marketing. However, it even involves SMS, Mobile and other digital forms of media.
- It’s relatively cost-effective.
- It has a quick turn-around time.
- It has a wider reach, given the absence of geographical and chronological boundaries.
- It has a quicker reach to the target audience as well.
So, what say? Why not to get your business on the fast track via building and following an efficient, effective digital marketing strategy?
